Bridge of Katsogiannis
Approximately 2 kilometres east of Spilaio stands the Bridge of Katsogiannis, also known as the Bridge of Spilaio or the Mill Bridge. It crosses the Velonia River, a tributary of the Venetikos, and takes its name from Katsogiannis, the miller who worked at the nearby mill of the Church of Agios Athanasios. The stone bridge was constructed around 1800 and was originally three-arched. Today, unfortunately, it has not survived intact: its southern section has been replaced with reinforced concrete, and only the two northern stone arches remain. Nevertheless, its imposing size continues to impress: its total length exceeds 50 metres, its width reaches 2.60 metres, while the largest, central arch rises to approximately 7 metres— features that reflect its historical significance and reveal its beauty.
