Bridge of Prosvoro

On the Dotsikiotiko River, between the settlements of Prosvoro and Alatopetra, stands the single-arched Bridge of Prosvoro, also known as the “Bridge of Nidrouzi”, the “Bridge of Gkavos” or the “Bridge of Alatopetra”. It is 20 metres long, 3.50 metres wide, and 7.50 metres high, with an arch spanning 11.50 metres. It stands out for its precisely cut stones, its isodomic stonework, its lowered arch, and its flat stone-paved deck. Rectangular sandstone blocks from the nearby Hellenistic acropolis of Kasti were used in its construction. It was built either in the late 19th or early 20th century by Vrangas Kalfa or Grigorios Siomos — both from the Mastorochoria (master-builder villages of Grevena) — to connect several settlements of the area. Today, it is designated a listed historic monument and awaits you to admire it.
