Church of Agia Paraskevi

On the road toward Palaio Gratsano, southwest of Velventos, one can encounter the Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi. If you cross the threshold of the single-aisled church, you will discover noteworthy frescoes by local artistic workshops, with pieces of work reflecting the anti-classical style of painting which used to dominate Macedonia towards the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century. A brief stop here is enough to feel how closely the history of spirituality intertwined with art — a heritage whose mark is visible in every corner of the place.
