Museum of the Pontic Hellenism

If you wish to discover the rich heritage of Pontic Hellenism, the Pontic Hellenism Cultural Centre of Kozani is the ideal place to begin. Created through the longstanding efforts of the Efxeinos Leschi of Kozani, one of the region’s oldest and most distinguished cultural associations, the centre serves as a vibrant meeting place where generations come together to preserve and celebrate the traditions of the Pontic Greeks. Housed within the centre, the Museum of the Pontic Hellenism offers a fascinating journey into the everyday life of the Pontic people through authentic traditional costumes, agricultural implements, and household objects. One of its highlights is an impressive scale model featuring traditional buildings from Eastern and Western Pontus, vividly illustrating the architecture and settlement patterns of the Pontic homeland. Your visit can also include the centre’s library, home to a remarkable collection of rare publications, including books written in the Pontic dialect dating back to the 1920s.
