ARCTUROS

A visit to Nymfaio offers a unique opportunity to discover the wildlife of West Macedonia and learn about its protection through the work of ARCTUROS. Your experience begins at the Bear Information Centre, housed in the historic Nikeios School, where you can explore the evolution, geographical distribution, and biology of the brown bear, while gaining insight into the challenges the species faces today. The experience continues at the Bear Conservation Area, where you can observe bears rescued and cared for by ARCTUROS in a specially designed 50-acre enclosed habitat. Nearby, in Agrapidies, the Wolf & Lynx Conservation Area is set within a 70-acre oak forest, offering the chance to observe these protected animals in surroundings that closely resemble their natural habitat. Together, these visits provide a deeper understanding of the organisation’s work and the importance of protecting Greece’s wildlife.
