Argos Orestiko Trade Fair
The Argos Orestiko Trade Fair is much more than a commercial event. It is a lively celebration with deep roots in local tradition and one of the largest fairs of its kind in Greece, attracting thousands of visitors every year. As you stroll among the colourful stalls, you will discover a wide variety of products, from clothing, blankets, carpets, and household items to local produce, legumes, fruits, loukoumia, halva, and loukoumades—something for every taste and preference. Around you, the familiar aromas of outdoor grills fill the air, while the amusement park brings a nostalgic sense of childhood joy and carefree moments. The history of the fair goes back centuries, with references dating to the Ottoman period, when Argos Orestiko—then known as Hroupista—hosted the Kaza market, recorded in Ottoman registers as early as 1568. Its enduring cultural value has earned it a place in Greece’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, recognising it as a living tradition that continues to bring people together.
