Boumpouna

In Lechovo, on the last Saturday of Carnival season, the night is illuminated by the flames of Boumpouna. A massive bonfire is lit in the village square, reviving a tradition that brings people together around fire, light, and shared joy. In the past, each neighbourhood would light its own fire, whereas today the entire village gathers around a single one — the great Boumpouna — which symbolically burns away winter and welcomes the arrival of spring. Music, singing, and dancing surround the fire, creating an atmosphere where carnival celebration meets the timeless symbolism of renewal.
