Cave Church of Agios Georgios Kremastos

Carved into a steep rock face on the eastern side of the Byzantine Castle of Servia, the Cave Church of Agios Georgios Kremastos stands as a remarkable hidden monument. A modern staircase leads the way up to it, guiding visitors into a space where nature and spirituality blend in striking harmony. Inside, the church is decorated with Byzantine frescoes dating to the 13th and 15th centuries, which—despite the passage of time—remain clearly visible in several sections. The later layer, from the 15th century, shows strong influences of the Kastoria Art School, reflecting the artistic flourishing of the period and adding further depth to this remarkable site.
