Chapel of Panagia in Goules

Just outside the village of Goules, a quiet dirt road leads you to the small and atmospheric Chapel of Panagia. Built around 1600, the chapel once served for centuries as the village cemetery, a history still subtly present today through the small ossuary beside it and the old graves that can still be traced in the ground. Recently restored, the chapel has preserved its history for future generations. Inside, you will be struck by the frescoes dating to 1606, especially those in the sanctuary. In the apse dominates the Platytera, while the Divine Liturgy is depicted below —a detail that gives this small church rare spiritual and artistic significance.
