Chestnut Festival

Toward the end of October, the mountain village of Kastanofyto welcomes autumn with its most fitting celebration: the Chestnut Festival. A day dedicated to the chestnut, a precious local product known for its nutritional value and rich flavour, awaits visitors who wish to discover the tastes and traditions of the area. Warm roasted and boiled chestnuts, accompanied by local wine and tsipouro, are shared in a welcoming atmosphere that quickly draws everyone into the festivities. Traditional dances and songs set the rhythm, creating an authentic celebration of joy, connection, and local heritage. During your visit, make sure to step inside the old elementary school, whose courtyard hosts the main events. There, you will discover a small folklore museum with traditional costumes, everyday objects, and photographs that tell the story of the village and its people.
