Church of Agia Paraskevi in Siatista

In Geraneia Square stands the Church of Agia Paraskevi, the oldest church in Siatista (1677), a three-aisled domed basilica that encapsulates the town’s artistic and spiritual flourishing. Its interior is truly striking: an ornate gilded wooden iconostasis, a stone baptismal font, and a surprising women’s gallery, where the figures of Aristotle, Plato, and Solon engage, as it were, in a dialogue with ecclesiastical iconography, revealing the intellectual depth and artistic refinement of the period. Outside, the six-sided bell tower, constructed in 1862 through donations from the residents of Gerania, has become a defining landmark of the neighbourhood.
