Church of Agioi Anargyroi.
Just outside the Castle of Servia, near the northern gate and the north-western section of the outer walls of the lower town, you will discover the Middle Byzantine Church of Agioi Anargyroi. This single-aisled church, distinguished by its rectangular apse and ceramic decoration, preserves remarkable frescoes that reflect its long and distinguished history. As you step inside, your attention is immediately drawn to the sanctuary apse, where depictions of the Holy Hierarchs survive from the church’s earliest phase of decoration in the 11th–12th centuries. In the main body of the church, you will encounter frescoes that, according to the founder’s inscription and their artistic style, date to 1510. Most of the painted decoration was created by an artist of the renowned Kastorian workshop, while the scenes on the northern wall are attributed to a second painter whose work reflects the anti-classical artistic trends of the period.
