Church of Agios Achilleios in Pentalofos

The Church of Agios Achilleios (1742) is the oldest surviving building in the village and a protected monument that encapsulates the 18th century of Voio: an imposing basilica with a jewel-like carved iconostasis and frescoes featuring rare themes. Particularly striking is the depiction of Alexander the Great in the Second Coming, flanked by Cyrus, Pyrrhus, and Darius — a composition rich in symbolism and artistic boldness. The church once served as a shared place of worship for the villages of Pentalofos and Vythos. Today, it is celebrated on 15 May, the feast day of Agios Achilleios, and on 26 October, the feast of Agios Dimitrios, to whom its chapel is dedicated.
