Church of Agios Dimitrios
Hidden within the ruins of the old settlement of Gratsiani stands the post-Byzantine Church of Agios Dimitrios, a small monument with a rich historical legacy. Take a moment to admire the 17th-century frescoes preserved on the eastern wall of the sanctuary, along with traces of painted decoration on the church’s southern exterior wall, believed to date back to the 15th century. Though modest in scale, the Church of Agios Dimitrios forms an important part of Velvento’s post-Byzantine heritage, offering another glimpse into the area’s remarkable artistic and spiritual tradition.
