Feast of Agios Panteleimon

A particularly special celebration in Vlasti is the feast of Saint Panteleimon on 27 July. The festivities begin the previous evening with the Vespers, while on the following day the Divine Liturgy is held at the Monastery of Agios Panteleimon, which overlooks the entire village. One of the most remarkable aspects of the celebration is that many worshippers arrive at the monastery on horseback, keeping alive a long-standing local tradition. After the liturgy, the icon of the saint is carried in procession through the streets of Vlasti, accompanied by locals, visitors, and horse riders who follow the route, evoking a sense of older times. The celebration continues in the afternoon with cultural events held in the village meadows, where the Tranos Choros (Great Dance), one of Vlasti’s most cherished traditions, takes place.
