Folklore Museum of Velvento
If you want to discover the history of Velvento through the everyday lives of its people, the Folklore Museum is the ideal place to start. It is housed in the restored “Kosta” mansion, an impressive example of Macedonian architecture dating from the 19th century. Its collections, enriched by valuable donations from local residents, bring to life traditional professions, rural activities, local costumes, and aspects of daily life from earlier times. The visit takes you through the family’s living quarters and the reception rooms of the mansion, as well as exhibits that reveal the secrets of traditional weaving and local clothing. Of particular interest are the eight thematic narratives presented through the museum’s spaces and objects, offering a vivid and engaging journey into the past.
