Hermitage of the Small Ascension (Mikri Analipsi)

Clinging to the rock face, the Hermitage of the Small Ascension is one of the most impressive monuments of Prespa’s monastic tradition. The small single-aisled church, dating to the 15th century, still preserves fresco decoration in the sanctuary, marked by remarkable simplicity and expressive strength. Access is difficult, but the sweeping views over the lake and the profound sense of isolation make the effort more than worthwhile.
