Holy Trinity Monastery in Vythos
Built at an altitude of 1,000 metres, 7 kilometres outside Vythos, the Holy Trinity Monastery (1792) retains its fortress-like character and impresses with its katholikon, a work by master builder Georgios Koustas. Inside, you will admire the frescoes of 1802, attributed to Michael from Chionades, along with the gilded carved wooden iconostasis, both masterpieces of post-Byzantine art. The monastery celebrates on the feast of the Holy Spirit, when large numbers of pilgrims gather for a unique festival of faith and tradition.
