Lassaneia
Every summer, Kozani comes alive with the Lassaneia, the city’s longest-running and most important cultural festival, as well as one of the leading cultural events in West Macedonia. From mid-June to the end of September, the city and the communities of the Municipality of Kozani transform into a vibrant celebration of culture, where you can enjoy concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions, film screenings, book presentations, educational workshops, children’s activities, technology events, and sporting competitions. The festival was first launched in 1983 under the name Elimeiakoi Kykloi and was renamed a few years later in honour of Georgios Lassanis, the Kozani-born scholar, politician, and fighter of the Greek War of Independence. With more than four decades of history, the Lassaneia continues to evolve, offering a rich and diverse programme that brings together Kozani’s cultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression.
