Panhellenic Road Race “Lignite Memories”
Since 2009, the nationwide road race “Lignite Memories,” organised every fall by the Spartakos Association and Greece’s Public Power Corporation in honor of lignite miners, has grown into a widely recognised athletic event. The race is open to all, including people with disabilities, and features two distances: a 21 km half marathon and a 5 km run. The finish line and award ceremony take place at “Lignite Memories” Park, an important landmark for the city. If you enjoy running and are looking for a unique sporting experience, this is an event you should not miss.
