Potato Festival in Kapnochori
Music, dancing, creative activities and, of course, plenty of delicious potatoes! On the last weekend of August, Kapnochori becomes the meeting point for the Potato Festival, a celebration organised by the village’s Cultural Association and dedicated to one of its most beloved local products. Taking place in the village’s central square, the festival offers a programme full of activities for all ages. The first day is dedicated to fun and creativity, with children and adults taking part in face painting, games, competitions, and plenty of dancing. The following day, the potato takes centre stage, as you can taste a variety of local potato-based delicacies free of charge and and even take home fresh potatoes if you wish. Alongside the culinary experiences, you can enjoy photography exhibitions and performances by local dance groups that bring the village’s culture and traditions to life. The celebration reaches its peak with a grand traditional feast that continues into the early hours, accompanied by live traditional and folk music, local food, drinks, and endless dancing.
