Traditional Toy Museum in Livadero

In Livadero, you’ll discover a collection of ancient and traditional games that still manage to spark joy even today. The “George Tsionas” Toy Museum, part of the Sistron Research and Construction Centre for Ancient and Traditional Games, highlights the timeless value of play through experiential activities and interactive workshops. Here, you’ll come across seistres (rattles) and plangones (dolls) from the ancient Greek and Byzantine world, as well as hoops and early skates from modern and post-war Greece. Traditional toys such as spinning tops and “chelidones” from local festivals sit alongside objects that once prepared children for adult life, such as the loom. More than a museum, it is a space where play, memory, and tradition meet—inviting visitors of all ages to rediscover the simple joy of games that have accompanied humanity through the centuries.
