Tsaknochori Bridge

Spanning the Pramoritsa River, on the borders of Kozani and Grevena, the Tsaknochori Bridge stands as one of the most significant monuments of the region. Measuring 49 metres in length, with a main arch spanning 15 metres, it once connected surrounding villages with the commercial centre of Tsotyli and served livestock herders moving their flocks toward Thessaly. Built before 1870, the bridge blends harmoniously with the river landscape, withstanding the passage of time and the forces of nature. According to local tradition, it is linked to a postman who, mourning the loss of his daughter, prayed for the strength to build it. The bridge was repaired in 1937 and later designated a protected monument, while recent restoration has ensured its preservation as a living symbol of Voio’s historical and architectural heritage.
