“Zachariadis” Cave
About 1 km west of Pýli, an uphill stepped path leads to a secluded plateau hidden within the forest. Here lies the cave that, during the Greek Civil War, served as the hideout of Nikos Zachariadis, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, and as the venue for confidential meetings of the Democratic Army of Greece. Even today, the site still retains something of the atmosphere of a turbulent era
