Papaterpou Mansion
Along the city’s lakeside promenade, it is impossible not to pause in front of the three-storey Papaterpou Mansion. Standing proudly since 1880, it is a distinguished example of the third type of traditional mansion architecture and the only survivor in what once was the Ottoman quarter of the city. Built by craftsmen from Nestorio, it originally served as the home of the Turkish mullah Ibrahim before passing into the hands of the Papaterpos family after the city’s liberation. Today, it remains a living testament to the city’s history, gracefully bridging its past with the present.
